Majid Babaie, CEO/Co-Founder: Majid Babaie is an established entrepreneur and has a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering and a Masters in Statistics, both from the University of Akron, Ohio. Majid is involved in several entities, which includes Manufacturing, R & D, Investment and Technical Expertise. His leadership has been extremely valuable in growing companies to their maximum potential.

Mehrdad Abolbashari, CTO/Co-Founder: Mehrdad received his PhD and MSc in Optical Science & Engineering from the University of North Carolina and Master and Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the Amirkabir University of Technology and Sharif University of Technology in Iran, respectively. Dr. Abolbashari has worked on several optical metrology and imaging projects in Center for Precision Metrology and Center for Optoelectronics and Optical Communications. Furthermore, he holds several patents in the field of optical science and engineering and has published peer-reviewed articles.

Jack Woerner, CFO and CSO: Proactive C-Suite executive with 30+ years of management experience and network connections providing practical solutions to run businesses effectively and profitably. Managed a variety of entities from startups to success including several technology companies. Served in leadership roles at Accenture, a major technology and outsourcing consultant group. Graduated from Bucknell University with a Major in Math and Economics and Columbia Business School with an MBA.

Jonathan Babaie, Lead Engineer - Optical Product Development: Jonathan earned his BSc in electrical engineering from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and has a PhD in Optical Science and Engineering at the same university. He has been involved in industrial research experience for several years. This includes electronic product design and manufacturing and a one-year internship at Intel’s Chandler, AZ site gaining an understanding of the needs of Intel regarding precision measurement and quality control. Jonathan is an expert on film-layer thickness.

Amanda Roncevich, Business Development: Amanda has 15+ years of experience working on both sides of the table in technology and finance. She has worked in Silicon Valley, Boston and London and has experience both as a VC/banker and as an entrepreneur expected to raise funds and deliver on the numbers. She works with companies to establish a commercial mindset and focus on partnerships and applications that deliver market value. Amanda has a Stanford MBA, Harvard BA and UMass Boston MEd.

Christian Salazar, Software Engineer: Christian Salazar is the software engineer at Optoniks. He is a former US Army veteran who earned his BSc in computer engineering from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and has a Master's degree in Software Engineering with concentration in software architecture and design from East Carolina University. He has been involved in the software industry for more than 10 years. He has various degrees of experience with mobile, desktop, and web applications among other things.

Adam White, 3D Design Engineer: Adam White has over 25 years of experience in 3D Surface and 3D Solid modeling. He earned his Bachelor of Industrial Design from Pratt Institute in 1984 and has current studies in Mechanical Engineering at the University of North Carolina Charlotte. Adam has design engineering experience in vacuum formed and blow molded products as well as complex sheet metal stampings and tooling. Adam is our CAD designer in charge of our mechanical assemblies and part details where he often takes advantage of the 3D printing capabilities here at Optoniks to prove out and finalize many complex part designs.

Anilma Freire, Sr. Metrology Engineer, West Coast: Anilma has 14+ years of industry experience in the area of Metrology and Precision Engineer accumulated at both Brown & Sharpe and Intel Corporation. While at Intel Anilma focused on qualifying metrologies at suppliers and Intel utilizing a large assortment of various technologies including mechanical, optical, XRays, etc…. She has experience in developing metrologies from Path Finding through Development and ultimately into the High Volume Manufacturing (HVM) environment. She earned her BSE in Mechanical Engineer, as well as, MSE in Precision engineering from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

Arthur Trevino, Technical Project Management: Arthur has thirty years of technical experience in product design and engineering development, both for large financial firms and later with an independent consulting business. He has successfully addressed project issues in a diversity of industries including hospital communications, embedded control systems, high performance main frame storage systems and electrical utility systems. Arthur was trained in USAF and served with distinction as a Team Leader of the primary communications node for USCENTCOM.

Faramarz Farahi, Scientific Advisor/Co-Founder: Faramarz Farahi is Scientific Advisor and co-founder of Optoniks. He earned his BSc. in physics from Sharif University of Technology, Iran, and his Masters in Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics from University of Southampton, UK. His PhD degree is in Physics with an emphasis on Fiber Optics from the University of Kent at Canterbury, UK. Dr. Farahi holds over ten US/International patents, is the author of more than 200 publications, and has over 25 years of experience in the field of Optics, optical sensors and metrology. He currently serves as a Professor of Physics and Optical Science and an Associate Director for the Center for Optoelectronics and Optical Communications at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
